There
was a discussion of the new website designed and built by Tom Linehan. Thank you Tom – you saw a need, and developed
a wonderful website for the Allandale Neighborhood – The Allandale Reporter http://www.allandalereporter.org/ This site will be easier to maintain and is
more user friendly than the old site. We
welcome all neighbors to submit stories or articles in Word format, and to send
in pictures of your trips to neighboring communities, flowers & gardens in
your yard, old pictures of ANA, Boy/Girl Scout activities, etc - any pictures
or articles that you think the rest of the neighbors will enjoy.
Paul motioned that we upgrade the software to
allow for several administrators, Kay seconded the motion, all voted in favor
of the motion. Paul motioned that Tom be
named the coordinator/administrator for the website, Jeff Franks seconded the
motion, all voted in favor of the motion.
Gretchen
motioned that ANA have a banner made listing the Allandale Neighborhood
Association as well as the address for the website http://www.allandalereporter.org/ Jeff seconded the motion, all voted in favor
of the motion.
Grace
& Kent – homeowners on Fresco brought to the attention of the Exec Comm
that Varsity Properties is buying homes and converting them basically to 6
bedroom 3 bath rentals. There is a house
that Varsity Properties has bought on Fresco and is in the process of
remodeling the home to become another 6 bedroom rental. Varsity Properties – Patrick Terry met with
the neighboring homeowners and are willing to set up a maintenance contract for
the yard, and the neighbor suggested a code of conduct for the renters –
Varsity Properties has not yet responded to this request. The neighbors have spoken to Council Member
Brewster McCracken and were told that Varsity Properties is just within the
zoning laws. At present you can have six
unrelated individuals living in a home with two off street parking places. Grace & Kent mentioned that at least some
areas of College Station have a zoning limit of four unrelated
individuals in a home. Gretchen proposed
that ANA provide a letter of support for Grace & Kent to take to city
zoning to have the zoning guidelines changed, stating that the neighborhood is
concerned with a home remodel of this nature. Kay motioned that ANA provide Grace & Kent with a letter of support,
Paul seconded the motion, all voted in favor of the motion.
Paul
is looking into a grant from the Park’s Foundation to be used to control the
ball moss in the oaks along the Shoal Creek area from 2222 to 45th St. Susan and Kay will contact landscape
companies asking for opinions on how to best address the ball moss problem and
to find out what the costs will be. Kay
will also contact Carl Schattenberg the City of Austin Urban Forester to see what he feels needs
to be done.
The
Exec Comm voted to appoint Cheryl Silver to the Exec Comm should she be willing
to accept the position. Jeff motioned
that we appoint Cheryl, Paul seconded the motion, all voted in favor of the
motion and we hope Cheryl will accept our offer. Gretchen has posted a request on the
listserve for volunteers to accept the remaining opening on the Exec Comm. To date we have had no volunteers for the
remaining position on the Exec Comm.
Paul,
Treasurer of ANA, reported on the ANA budget. As of 6-22-2005 the ANA checking account
has a balance of $14,738.87 and the ANA savings account has a balance of
$20,450.47 for a total of $35,189.34.
There
will be no Exec Comm meeting in July. Gretchen suggested seeing if Jackie Goodman would speak to the ANA
General Meeting in September. Since
Grace & Kent have brought their neighborhood zoning problems to the
attention of the Exec Comm Gretchen felt that this would be a good time to have
Jackie address zoning issues in
Austin.
Paul
motioned to close the meeting, Jeff seconded the motion, all voted in favor of
the motion.
Susan has asked our great
neighborhood police representative, Officer Crowley, to play his bagpipes in
the July 4th Parade. Come out
and support your friends and neighbors in this time honored Allandale event!
