Can’t you feel the excitement? Football is finally here! The McCallum
Knights 2006 season kicked off with the annual Blue/Gray Scrimmage on Friday,
August 11th. Although it
surely didn’t feel like football weather, a large crowd of fans braved the heat
to get a glimpse at what the football teams are going to look like this season.
The Band, Cheerleaders, and Blue Brigade added to the evening by performing for
the crowd. The coaches introduced the team members to the fans, and then each
team conducted a short scrimmage.
The Football Booster Club cooked up some great food and sold
merchandise to help the fans and students show their Mac Pride. For those that did not get a chance to
purchase any of this year’s merchandise, there will be plenty of opportunities
to do so during the season. The Booster Club is sponsoring a “Year of Knights” calendar
fundraising project for the 2006 football season. This first time project will feature photos
of the junior and senior football players and will be available for sale to
parents, students, and the community. The calendar will consist of
the academic school year (Aug 2006 – July 2007) and include schedules, special
events, holidays, etc., that are of interest to the McCallum community.
The Knights’ first scrimmage this year is Saturday morning,
August 19th, against Pflugerville Hendrickson at Hendrickson. Freshmen and JV scrimmages start about 9 am,
Varsity at 10 am.
Heads up on future dates:
Monday, August 21, Booster Club meeting 6:30pm McCallum
Field House
Thursday, August 24, scheduled scrimmage with Killeen
Ellison at Nelson Field at 7pm.
Friday, September 1, Annual Taco Shack Bowl against Anderson
