Habitat - water tank PATRICIA ROBERTS-MILLER - 2900 SILVERLEAF Thursday's Austin American-Statesman had an article about the City's Wildlife Habitat program using Allandale's, Trish Roberts-Miller's as an example of someone who has successfully set up a habitat in her backyard. The article, "City program aims to restore wildlife habitat to suburban spaces," by Sarah Coppola,  shows a number of great photos from their habitat including one of her husband, Jim, working their compost pile.

You can read more about Trish and other Allandale residents involved in the program here. Allandale placed second in the city's Wildlife Habitat Challenge in 2008. Perhaps creating a wildlife habitat is one of your new year resolutions for 2009. You will find more information about the program here: http://www.nwf.org/backyard/certify.cfm. You can also contact Cheryl Silver for guidance at csilver2@austin.rr.com or 454-7219.
