Hangtown Grill in Allandale Village Closed

Hangtown Grill closed last week. The restaurant did everything to make a go of it from offering $3 burgers to holding a Wednesday night open mike night but the location just did not work for them. Hangtown opened up in Allandale Village in July of 2008. Other restaurants that have opened and closed in that location include Dry Dock and Romeo's. As the sign on their door says, their location in Westlake remains open. Is it the location or the just the wrong restaurant?

They were too expensive for the ambiance to be so blah. My boyfriend and I would go there, just getting burgers and/or pizza and we'd spend as much or more than we spend at a full-service restaurant like Kerbey Lane. The food was okay, but the atmosphere was like a sports bar, but even less cozy. They were also way in the corner of the shopping center. It was way too big of a space, too.

Where do you begin. First it's location, location, location. That is obviously not the best spot for a restaurant. Second, the food was mediocre at best. Third, the place had no style or unique qualities. It was very bland and generic. I don't like seeing business leave the area but I went there once and had no plans of ever returning so I'm not too heartbroken.

Sad to here this. The food was good. The ambience though was a little lacking and it seems like it wasn't quite sure what kind of restaurant in wanted to be.

I LOVED their burgers. So sorry to see it go. They hosted a lot of fund raisers for organizations, which was nice, and they had a huge meeting room.

I think being so close to Amy's/Phil's Ice House killed them.

Also, I don't like restaurants that have TVs all over the place.
