The Lamar PTA is going to discuss Student Pedestrian/Bicycle, Safe Routes to School at their next general meeting, Monday, November 16, 2009, 7:00 - 8 PM in the Lamar Middle School Cafeteria, 6201 Wynona, Austin, TX 78753. The meeting is open to Lamar families, community neighbors, local businesses and Lamar administrators & faculty. This is an opportunity to discuss pedestrian and bicycle safety routes for Lamar students coming and going to school.
One means to remedy some of the concerns may be the Safe Routes to School programs that create practical projects to make school routes safer for children to walk and bicycle, such as sidewalks, crosswalks and bicycle facilities. Funding may be available through this source. You are encouraged to discuss this important topic and offer your recommendations and other resources that may be available as well.
