Turn in Your Ballot

Looks like the City has begun the process of removing the curb extensions (CEs) this past week. As you can see from the picture to the left, the crepe myrtles have been removed.  So much for plans to decorate them this holiday season. Once the CEs are removed, Shoal Creek Boulevard will be restriped and you along with our Rosedale neighbors and members of the cycling community can vote on one of two restriping options. Those options are presented in a ballot that you should have received on your doorstep this past week. Please complete and turn it in. Mailed in ballots must be postmarked November 2nd. You can also drop it off at Gullett on Saturday, November 5th. If you did not receive a ballot, you can pick one up this week at the Gullett shool library. SCB Stakeholder Meeting Produces Short List

On Saturday morning, October 15, around 120 citizens concerned about Shoal Creek Boulevard met with city staff to sort out the issues and come up with options. Starting with 10 different choices for the basic restriping plan, attendees broke into small groups to hash out the pros and cons and to make their tweaks. After group presentations and general discussion, attendees voted on a total of 23 different variations. The vote tallied each person’s top 5 choices. The result is a short list of the design alternatives that found the most favor. (continue)

Saturday's Stakeholder Meeting

Dear Residents and Users of Shoal Creek Boulevard,

You are invited to attend a Stakeholder Meeting on Saturday, October 15th, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Murchison Middle School, 3700 North Hills Dr. The purpose of the meeting is to develop striping options for Shoal Creek Boulevard between 38th Street and Foster Lane. On September 29, 2005, the City Council passed a resolution approving removal of the curb islands and requesting staff to work with stakeholders to identify options for restriping the street for consideration at the November Land Use and Transportation Subcommittee meeting and December 1 council meeting.

Please join us Saturday morning, October 15 to work on options.
