steps
Public Works has completed the validation and tallying process
for the Shoal Creek Blvd. (W. 38th St. to Foster Lane) sidewalk issue.
Eighty-four percent of respondents favor sidewalk on one or both sides of the
boulevard. Sixty-two percent of those favor sidewalk on both sides of the
street.
~ 5300 ballots delivered to residents and property owners of Allandale and Rosedale neighborhoods
739 validated responses
15.8% voted for no sidewalk
84.1% voted for sidewalk
62.5% of those voting for sidewalk favor both sides of the street
Next Steps
Construction is scheduled to start the second half of July and should take 6-7 months. Work will begin at two locations on the west side of the boulevard, near Northwest Park and near W. 38th Street. Multiple crews will work the project. The work will require temporary closures of bike lanes in short "runs" as it moves north and south along the street. To minimize disruption to those living along the boulevard, we will complete construction on both sides of the street by segment - working first one side, then the other - before moving to the next segment. Two travel lanes will remain open throughout construction.
What you will see next on the street:
Beginning this week, you will see surveyors working in the right of way.
